Following on from the annual success since 2009 Chorley Advanced Motorists is holding our seventh high profile ALIVE TO DRIVE campaign at Asda Clayton Green, near Chorley, Lancashire on Saturday and Sunday 17th and 18th October 2015.
We have a number of free IAM Skill for Life courses which will be given away (primarily for people aged under 26, but may be offered to others if full quota not used). Should all these go will offer £30 off a SfL to any other interested customers.
This is being supported by the local Police, Fire service, Ambulance Service, Lancashire Partnership for Road Safety and the Highways Agency to name but a few. See the very latest in their equipment and vehicles. Also on show will a car which features as part of a road safety campaign by the LPRS which belonged to Dan Birch. The campaign is called Dan Birch: Almost Home.
It’s the story of what happened to Dan from the perspective of his mother. Daniel was killed on Mother’s Day two years ago. He lived in Coppull with his mum and dad, older brother and younger sister. He was driving home after a night out (his parents thought he was at work). He lost control of his car and collided with a brick gatepost. The damage to his car was catastrophic and he died almost instantly with massive internal bleeding. He was almost three times over the legal limit. Dan’s parents thought he was past his potentially troubled teens and “weren’t on his back so much”. His parents say, “We will never know why Daniel was driving home”.
We welcome all drivers, particularly young drivers where you will learn about the skills to become an advanced driver with all the benefits that go with it, not least being a possible reduction in car/bike insurance.
Spend some time with us and take advantage of our special offers. Advanced driving could not only be a life saver but is great fun. It costs nothing to have a look – we hope to see you!
